2017-18 Psychoanalytic Takes on the Cinema

The goal of the Psychoanalytic Takes on the Cinema program is to teach psychoanalytic concepts and principles related to the functioning of the mind, human development and relationships, through films and psychoanalytic discussion.  The program is directed toward mental health professionals, either graduates or in training, who use psychoanalytic therapy as a treatment modality, and also to physicians and other individuals interested in learning about and/or applying psychoanalytic principles.

Participants will view films together and discussants will present a paper and/or lead a discussion illustrating basic psychoanalytic concepts. Our experience has shown that watching films together allows participants to develop trust and to support each other in learning new concepts.
